Bachelor of Arts (B.A) - course of study/choice of subjects

 

BACHELOR OF ARTS (B.A.)

The students of Arts Faculty have to study 6 papers per year. A student who fails in maximum 2 papers can get admission to the Second Year. If he/she fails in more than 2 papers, he/she will not get admission to the Second year. Getting through all the papers of the First Year is mandatory for seeking admission to the Third Year.

 

F.Y.B.A.:

As per the circulars of SPPU, Pune, the first year students have to study Compulsory English and five other papers at general level from the groups B to G shown below. The group once selected, will not be changed. If a student wishes to offer English as a special subject at S.Y.B.A. and T.Y.B.A. level, he/she has to offer Optional English at F.Y.B.A. level. As per university circular Physical Education course shall be compulsory to all F.Y. students from 2016-17.

                        A –       Compulsory English

                        B –       Marathi

                        C –       Functional Hindi/Optional English

                        D –       Geography

                        E –       History

                        F –       Politics

                        G –      Economics

 

A Student desiring to offer B.A. Special Course in a particular subject must offer that paper at F.Y.B.A.

 

S.Y.B.A.:

Students of S.Y.B.A. have to offer the following subjects :-

  1. i)  Compulsory English
  2. ii)  The student has to offer one special subject out of general papers studied at F.Y.B.A.
  3. II)  except Economics. There will be two special papers and one general paper of the

subject.

iii)  The student has to offer two other general papers out of the following groups studied at F.Y.B.A.

  1. Marathi b. Politics       c. Functional Hindi/ Optional English
  2. Geography e. History       f. Economics

*   The subject once selected will not be changed under any circumstances.

*   The student who offers his subject at special level, must have passed the concerned

paper in  F.Y.B.A. examination.

*   At special level, admission will be on merit basis.

T.Y.B.A.:

The same as the subjects offered at S.Y.B.A.
